After Lauterbrunnen, we decided to head to Bern, the relaxed German (those 2 words shouldn't go together in one sentence) capital of Switzerland.
Bern is a big city so no wonder its the capital of Switzerland. It is all built in a Middle Ages style and it houses the biggest clock face in the Western Europe apparently, ( mm hmmm :^~^) .shopping is massive and there are lots of department stores and chains.
First we went and saw the Rose gardens. They had lots of different types of roses but none of them are flowering which was sad, I liked it because there was so many children there. My brother liked it because we got out of there.

Bern's city symbol is a brown bear and to show this the government of Bern have three tame bears on the river bank in enclosures!
The bears look very tired and i think it must be a very lonely life in there.
Bern involves relaxing, so we didn't exactly do stuff, just walked around taking in the shops and a general theme of meandering. This did not (to our stomachs) appeal very much to us at one o clock. We decided to get some lunch at a tiny little supermarket with, surprisingly, delicious food.
After an amazing game of chess on black and white tiles outside, against a little German boy we decided to go home to our Hotel. At dinner time we headed out to a lovely vegetarian restaurant if a bit pricey.
After that we hit the hay
Bern's been beautiful with it it's lovely gardens, random military camps and beautiful city. I'll be sad to leave it behind. I think you'll find that it's almost as beautiful as it was 100 years ago.
