After leaving Spain we headed to the walled city of Carcassonne, a small medieval town surrounded by a wall and protected by a moat and drawbridge. The tiles on the roofs are made of lead and it still uses the original stone from when it was built in the year watsomagig and has been modernised since then.

Waiting for dinner |
We drove on past the castle deciding we would come back for dinner and went on to our B+B. a sweet and slightly more modern building then the castle, it was very pretty but also very hard to find many signs of any life past flora. Finally a bleary eyed French man came out and told us to come in.
After showing us to our rooms and around the lovely B & B that was once an old French Winery, he told us some stuff about the town and left, probably to do more important things such as sleep. However we were NOT going to sleep in the slightest even though it was 7 o clock on a school night (but still as light as midday).
We headed back to the castle and entered, had a quick look around then searched for a place to have dinner. Once found, we ate and then headed home, had a bath, made some paperplanes from Drew's new instruction and paper book then hit the hay in our massive room. Back for more tomorrow.
Making paper planes |
The next day:
Today I learnt something new about France:
They have coffee in a mug the size of my of my cereal bowl, possibly bigger. I think that breakfast, here, IS the most important meal of the day for once. Ours was delicious.
We decided to head back to the castle and explore the bit we missed last night. For eight euros we were allowed to walk the ramparts and the castle. This was amazing, inside the castle was an exhibition about the history of the place. We only got to see for a couple of minutes though because our friends got bored or in Tildas case ' scared '. She is only 4 after all.
